Holding the Fort, chapter 1

Release of the first chapter of a a short two-part Supergirl comic book this week!

Features a very sexy new Supergirl. I’ve received a lot of emails about her in the past couple of weeks since posting a sneak preview, so hope you enjoy her debut comic.

A day late this week because of this niggling little upload problem, but all up now.

Also, I have a request:

I was struggling to design a superbreath effect in Photoshop for this comic book. I wanted some sort of effect that would get across a massive amount of air and pressure exiting from her lips, and also then the guy being blow up into the air and across the corridor.

Any ideas on how to get this across to the reader in the best way? Ideas very much appreciated.

See you next week!

  1. Any idea when superheroineperil.com will release something new. I would like to see either Sonic Girl or Miss Power make an appearance. Hopefully you make it more action oriented.

  2. even if mike was right about superheroine diversity…we like to see more wonder babe miss power or sonic girl in action(comics or film)…this new model in that supergirl (really sexy) costum was…amazing…
and the story looks promising…with action and super pose…

  3. Gorgeous babe. Hot pants couldn’t get any hotter. Loved the laser vision effects. Spelling error in the text.

    Overall HOT.

Would like to see 1. Flying and 2. Higher res images.

  4. think this heroine to compliment outfit would look better if she had a cape. any news on superheroine films site thought he said they were going to update it last week, any one else here anything

  5. Jon,
Regarding the super breath effect, here’s where I’d start… (Using panel 3 of 3374.jpg for this example.)

Create a new layer, set to Lighten, with opacity around 50%. Soft round brush about the size of the girl’s mouth, draw with a white brush some squiggly, smoky lines from the girl’s mouth, tapering outwards to the lower corners of the frame. Neatness doesn’t matter.

With rectangular marquee, select a rectangle that starts at the bottom of the frame, and extends up twice the height from the bottom of the frame to her lips (so her lips are at the center of a rectangle the width of the frame). Use the radial blur tool (at around Amount 18) to blur your squiggles. Since her lips are at the center of the selection, the blur lines should radiate from her lips, thus looking like a blast of air coming out of her mouth towards camera.

Create a mask to make her mouth look like the source of the “funnel” of smoke, and rough the edges of the funnel to make it less straight. Tweak the blurred squiggles with the paintbrush, using black to darken, and white to lighten.

If you have any filters that create random smoke, you can use that instead of drawing it yourself by hand.

    Hope this helps,

    Dennis

  6. Almost forgot… Also, feel free to use big, blocky text saying “WHOOOSH!” as well.

In fact, it’d be cool to see text/sound effects sprinkled in for pipe bending scenes and such.

  7. Jon, I’m so close to becoming a member, and if you do one thing to hook me in, please, please, please do a photoshoot with Karolina in the classic Supergirl outfit, this one:

    http://www.supersexyheroines.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/miss-power-one-at-a-time-c02-promo-01.jpg.

I just saw Karolina and she is almost a spitting image of my friend Calinda, except Karol has curved eyebrows and is slightly more tanned. Down to the dimple in her chin, they’re almost identical, and I’d love to imagine Calinda in that awesome tight classic SG outfit with cape.

As high quality as you can get, and I’ll pay you via PayPal for your trouble. She is smoking hot and you’d make my weekend. It’d be nice if you could get her on USH too, showing a little more than usual, hint hint…….! Do you hire the outfits out by any chance, for a fee?
